UCLBC Alumni Racing in the Boat Race

All the members of UCL Boat Club would like to send warm congratulations to Alice Carrington-Windo and Alex Davidson for securing seats in the Oxford Women’s and Men’s Blue Boats at the Boat Race this March.

Alice Carrington-Windo went straight into the Senior Women’s Squad when she came to UCLBC, having rowed previously at school. In her second year, Alice qualified for Henley with the women’s 1st VIII and reached the semi-finals of the regatta, she then went on to act as Senior Women’s captain. As an incredibly hard-working and determined athlete, it is a delight to hear that Alice will be sat in the two seat at the Women’s Boat Race at Henley on the 24th March.

Alex Davidson came to UCL having also previously rowed at school. He became President of UCLBC from 2009-2010 and then UL from 2010-2011. He also competed at the U23 World Championships in 2012. As OUBC President for 2012-2013, this will be the second year that Alex has competed in the Boat Race, sitting this year in the three seat. The annual race will this year take place on Sunday the 31st of March, running from Putney to Chiswick, and will see all the members of UCLBC supporting the Dark Blue Boat to what will hopefully be a victorious result.

As a club, it is a pleasure to see students continue rowing beyond their time at UCL, and when such success is the result, we like to think we had a little something to do with it…

Good luck to both Alice and Alex!
