A TOUGH SPORTING CHALLENGE FOR A GREAT CAUSE: A 48-hour Row-a-thon for Cancer Research UK
UCLBC, in association with Cancer Research, is undertaking a grueling 48-Hour Row-a-thon which will be held in:
Covent Garden Market from 4pm on the 8th December until 4pm on the 10th December.
The club is taking on this challenge to raise at least £6,000 for CRUK and UCLBC. In the UK, at least 1/3 people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in our life, and only 50% survive. This has spurred our decision to raise money for a cause that affects everyone, regardless of backgroud, be it age, gender or socio-economic status.
Our objective is twofold:
- to support CRUK by donating half of money raised to fund vital and life saving research, in the hope of being able to save lives.
- to benefit individuals at UCL by making our Club more accessible.
For the Row-a-thon, our squad members will set up residence in the South East corner of Covent Garden Market on Thursday 8th December. We will take turns to row continuously, clocking up the kilometers on two rowing machines over the 48-hour period. We will need lots of encouragement to keep the rowing machines moving.
The public is welcome to come and support us in Covent Garden from the 8th December – 10th December, or visit our JustGiving page or text ‘UCLU89 £amount’ to 70070 to make a donation.
