Give It A Go!

7th and 13th October

For all you novices this is the first chance for you to get out on the water and try your hand at row, row, rowing a boat! We’ll take you through technique on a rowing machine, simulator and then onto the Thames for the first steps of your rowing career. You’ll have experienced rowers in the boat with you so you’re completely safe and you’ll feel yourself improve by the second! To register your interest in Give It A Go fill in the form here and we’ll email you when we confirm your slot!

Boat Ball

3rd November

Rowers look good in lycra but we look even better in black tie! Head along to our annual Boat Ball on the Thames and experience the water with a glass in your hand instead of an oar. To stay updated when tickets are released join the UCLBC Does Boat Ball event page on Facebook.

Cambridge Head

17th November

You’ve been training with your squads so this is your time to show other clubs what you’re made of. Cambridge Head is a slightly shorter race and a very relaxed vibe so it makes a perfect first race for novices and a good chance to brush the holiday cobwebs off for our senior squads. Whatever the outcomes for each squad expect to be headed to Mully’s for post-race drinks and karaoke!

Row-A-Thon

23rd to 25th November

Help to raise money for the club and for Mind at our annual 48 Hour Row-a-Thon. Sign up for your slots and take over the rowing machines in Covent Garden to tally up the miles!

Social Tour

30th November to 2nd December

At UCL Boat Club we work hard and party hard but never is that concept more true than on our annual social tour. Head north for a few hours of racing before changing out of your lycra and into your party clothes to see all that the north has to offer. It might be painful having to return to southern drink prices afterwards but that is only if you remember how much you payed for those 15 jägerbombs!

Christmas Dinner

12th December

Feel festive and full at our annual Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings! Pull your cracker, tell the horrendous joke and don your paper crown ready to hit the dance floor. Celebrate all that you’ve accomplished in your first term and start looking forward to Term 2 and all the excitements it will bring.

Pudding Races

15th December

There’s nothing that says merry quite like animal onesies on the tideway! Bring out the Christmas jumpers that have been sitting in the bottom of your wardrobe, hunt down that onesie you bought for fancy dress 3 years ago and understand the reasoning behind the lycra as your oar handle gets caught for the 3rd time in your furry kangaroo pouch (not a euphemism!). Celebrate Christmas in UCLBC style; with alcohol, food and (controlled?) chaos!
