Whether you’re a two-time Olympic Champion, or don’t know your oar from
your elbow; we’d love you to come and join us. We provide excellent coaching
and superb facilities for experienced and novices, rowers and coxes alike.
Rowing Is not just about early mornings on the river and late nights in the gym
- it’s about developing invaluable skills, raising your all-round fitness,
making new friends, working as a team and having a great time doing it!
If you think you’re interested, then why not try it out? Come and say hi at Freshers’ Fayre on the 29TH/30TH
SEPTEMBER. Find us outside in the quad with an erg and inside on one of the
many stalls. At either place make sure you get your email down so that we can
contact you. Committee members will be on the stall and will be happy to answer
any of your questions! There is a welcome meeting on TUESDAY 4TH OCTOBER
at 6:30pm for novices and 7:15pm for seniors (JZ Young Lecture Theatre, Anatomy
Building) where our President and Captains will tell you all there is to know
about the club. Please then join us at a local pub/bar (location TBC) for a few
drinks!
Our TryItOut Weekend will be SATURDAY 8TH/SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER where you have nothing to lose
and and it’s absolutely free to get a taste of life in the Boat Club and
give rowing a go! Seniors will meet and take groups to the boathouse in
Chiswick where you can have a go on the erg and try out our rowing water 'tank'
before going on the water! All of these activities will be supervised by
Seniors and your water session will be taken by the Novice Coach Alan 'Woody'
Sherman. Please stay and join us for a BBQ on both days - £3 for a beer and a
burger.
Before you know it, it‘ll be joining fortnight (17TH-30TH OCTOBER) and time to sign up to your choice of clubs and
societies for the year. Head over to the CSC (Clubs and Societies Centre) in
the Bloomsbury, and declare your love for rowing. They’ll give you a lovely
little card to prove that you’re part of one of the biggest and best clubs in
the Union. Be proud. Stand tall. And head over to the gym!
So mark these dates in your diary! And remember, you can e-mail us at uclu-boatclub@ucl.ac.uk.
